The William & Sharon Flynn International Study Abroad Opportunity

Recognizing the transformative impact of international learning experiences, this endowment would provide grants for undergraduate and graduate students for international travel related to their academic areas of interest. To qualify for this grant, a student must be engaged in an intensive language experience that emphasizes in-depth experiential learning and scholarly research. This scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis with preference given to those students who demonstrate financial need. Awards will be made at the discretion of the provost.

  1. Flynn Travel Scholarship

Applicants will be considered for a Flynn Scholarship if they are participating in an education abroad experience that has a program start date within 9 months of the application deadline posted above
    • Describe your planned international study experience and how it meets the criteria of the scholarship (i.e., engaged in an intensive language experience, emphasizes in-depth experiential learning and/or scholarly research). How will this international experience enhance your academic and post-academic career? Applicants with financial need or who have demonstrated distinction or recognition in scholarship, leadership, to the URI campus or community at large, should also address these topics in their essay.
