Toray Plastics America, Inc. Scholarship
The Fund shall support undergraduate students, with a preference for Rhode Island residents, pursuing a degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering. Scholarships will be allocated to the following three student categories and will continue for the full four years provided the student meets the academic achievement and/or financial need requirements.
1) Children of Toray Plastics America (TPA) Employees:
a. Three or more $3,000 scholarships will be available for children of TPA employees, based on
need and a minimum 3.00 GPA all four years.
b. Scholarships not awarded for the above purpose will be made available to students pursuing
an undergraduate degree in engineering or business. If no students qualify, then the scholarships
may be awarded to students in pursuit of any undergraduate degree at the University of Rhode
Island.
2) Grandchildren, Nieces, or Nephews of Toray Plastics America (TPA) Employees:
a. Three or more $3,000 scholarships will be available for other family members of TPA
employees, based on need and a minimum 3.00 GPA all four years.
b. Scholarships not awarded for the above purpose will be made available to students pursuing
an undergraduate degree in business. If no students qualify, then the scholarships may be
awarded to students in pursuit of any undergraduate degree at the University of Rhode Island.
3) URI and High School Student Scholarships:
Eight or more $2,000 scholarships will be available to students pursuing an undergraduate
degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering. Minimum 3.00 GPA must be
maintained. Preference for North Kingstown High School graduates with an emphasis on
economically disadvantaged students.
