Weygand Family Scholarship

The fund is used to provide financial assistance to non-traditional, Rhode Island students attending the University of Rhode Island, including single parents and first-generation college students. It is our belief that individuals who have had their educational aspirations interrupted after high school should have the opportunity and support to achieve their dream of higher education. Through this scholarship it is our intent to provide assistance to these Rhode Islanders and hope that others will do so likewise. The funds shall be awarded per the following criteria: a) Rhode Island resident b) Non-traditional student (adult student attending college for the first time or returning) c) Enrolled in baccalaureate degree program, taking and completing nine credit hours per semester, remaining in satisfactory academic standing, and meeting all other student standards e) Pursuing a degree and career in public service to the people of Rhode Island (i.e. childhood development, social services, teaching, healthcare and related public services) f) During the term of the scholarship, the recipient must be involved in a University sponsored and/or University-sanctioned community service program. Recipient selected by the Dean of University College for Academic Success.
