A. Scholarships are to be awarded to Rhode Island residents attending or scheduled to attend the University of Rhode Island College of Engineering in pursuit of an electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering bachelor’s degree.
B. Scholarship aid will be allocated to two (2) student categories. These scholarships will continue for the full four (4) years providing the student continues to meet the financial need and/or scholastic achievement required.
C. Scholarship Categories
1. Children of Toray Plastics America (TPA) Employees:
a. Two (2) scholarships of three thousand dollars ($3,000) each will be available for children of TPA employees. These scholarships will be awarded based upon need and scholastic achievement combined.
b. Children of Toray employees will be allowed one (1) semester of probation in order to prevent the discontinuation of Toray scholarship funding if the student’s GPA falls below 3.00. If during any semester following the probation semester the student’s GPA falls below 3.00, Toray scholarship funding will be terminated.

2. URI and High School Student Scholarships: Eight (8) or more fifteen hundred dollar ($1,500) scholarships each will be available to students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering. Criteria for awarding these scholarships will be based upon academic achievement and residence in Rhode Island. GPA level must be maintained in accord with section 1-b above.
