James Ladewig Scholarship in Music History

The purpose of the Scholarship is to recognize and provide an award to a student(s) demonstrating excellence in music history. Recipients shall be undergraduate music majors who have demonstrated (1) Academic excellence in, and (2) Enthusiasm for, the study of music history, at URI, or through previous experience.

Academic excellence in music history need not be judged solely on the basis of grades but may also include aspects of a students academic performance such as quality of classroom discussion, depth of understanding, and so forth.

Recipients shall be selected b a committee consisting of faculty who teach music-major music history and music theory courses. Whenever the committee is less than three members, the Music Department Chairperson of his/her designee shall be included.
