Robert Stetson Butler and Charlene Klatt Butler Scholarship Endowment

Income from endowment will be used to provide scholarship assistance to one or more resident(s) of West Greenwich who are graduates of the Exeter-West Greenwich High School. The intention is to have the scholarship awarded to students who may not be eligible for other scholarships that are based on academic achievement. For example, the scholarship could be awarded to a B or C student rather than an A student who might be more likely to obtain other scholarships. A student award recipient is not required to show financial need. Another intention is to have the scholarship awarded to students who have demonstrated the ability to make a difference in the community by personal service.
Preference will be given to an incoming freshman who will be eligible to continue receiving scholarship assistance if the student is making satisfactory progress towards graduation. More than one scholarship may be awarded. Awards for incoming freshmen will be coordinated by the URI Department of Enrollment Services with the Scholarship Committee at the West-Greenwich High School. In the event no student is selected for the scholarship in a given year, such funds will remain invested in the endowment.
