Piacitelli Family Endowed Scholarship

The Fund shall be used to provide an annual scholarship for a fulltime undergraduate student enrolled at the University of Rhode Island. The intent is for one student to receive the full award. First preference for the award will go to a student who is the child or grandchild of an employees of the Miniature Casing Corporation. A duly appointed representative for the Miniature Casting Corporation will provide the URI Foundation annually with a list of eligible employee children or grandchildren for the award. The eligible names must be received by the URI Foundation no later than March 31 of each year for the award to be made in the subsequent fall and spring academic semesters. In the event of multiple candidates, the available funds will be divided equally between named candidates. The only requirement for this scholar is that he or she is enrolled as a full time student in any college of the University.
If no student meets this qualification, a full-time undergraduate student who is a Rhode Island resident in good academic standing with a minimum of 2.4 GPA within the College of Engineering will receive the award. In these cases, the Deanbs office of the College of Engineering will select the recipient with a preference for a student who is known by the Deanbs Office to need extra financial assistance, but who works to support his or her college costs and has a minimum of grants or scholarships. Further criteria stipulates the student may renew the scholarship through college matriculation as long as he/she maintains good academic standing with minimum 2.4 GPA and no Miniature Casting Scholar is present. The intent is one student to receive the full award.
