W. J. Cummings Armed Forces Veterans Endowed Scholarship

The Fund shall be used to support returning Armed Forces Veterans with honorable and general discharge status, Guard / Reserve service members, or survivors (spouse or child), who are attending URI full-time in a degree-seeking program. Student(s) must (1) demonstrate financial need, (2) have a minimum GPA of 2.0, (3) be in good standing, and (4) participate in the URI Supports Student Veterans Committee. Recipient(s) will be selected by the URI Center for Military and Veteran Education.

In addition to applying via the URI Scholarship Portal, which will include an essay detailing their need and academic goals, applicants will be required to submit a copy of their resume and DD214.

The usual term of the scholarship will be the Academic Year (fall and spring semesters), with the possibility of a summer renewal depending on fund availability. Recipient(s) will be eligible for scholarship renewal if they continue to meet the above criteria.
