The Gary J. Bowen Memorial Scholarship

The fund shall be used to provide a 3-year scholarship for full tuition and room and board to an in-state electrical engineering student with financial need during his/her sophomore, junior and senior year. At the end of their freshman year, qualified students will be encouraged to apply for the scholarship based upon admirable character, a minimum 3.0 GPA, a strong work ethic, a tendency to give of themselves and defend others with a sense of justice. Eligibility shall be reviewed if a recipient’s GPA falls below 3.0, but the student achieves a 3.0 the next semester. Recommendations of electrical engineering faculty concerning the personable demeanor and innovative qualities of candidates may also be considered. No more than six student finalists who qualify shall then be interviewed for the selection of one recipient by the dean of the College of Engineering.
